The results of the General Election for the Shropshire North constituency which includes Pant are in.
In a not wholly unexpected result, Owen Paterson (Conservative) has won the seat with a majority of 16,494.

Considered one of the safest seats in the country, voters in Shropshire North cast their votes as follows.
- Andrea Christabel Allen (Ukip) 9,262
- Graeme Roger Currie (Labour) 10,547
- Duncan Kerr (Green Party) 2,575
- Owen William Paterson (Conservative) 27,041
- Tom Thornhill (Liberal Democrats) 3,148
Turnout was 67% in the constituency, in line with the predicted turnout across the UK.
Owen Paterson received 51.4% share of the total vote, which was the same as his previous share of the vote in 2010.
Each of the other candidates increased their party’s share of the vote, with the exception of the Liberal Democrats who saw a 15% fall in their share of the vote, in line with the national picture.
The constituency, which covers an area including Whitchurch, Oswestry, Market Drayton and, of course, Pant, is considered one of the safest seats and has, in effect, always returned a Conservative Member of Parliament.
