Since we reported that the Cross Guns Inn in Pant announced that it is ‘temporaily closed’ a further post on Facebook has explained that the pub is currently only able to open for drinks.
At the time of the closure, we asked Admiral Taverns for an update and they issued this statement to us on 15 Juy 2025 in which they say that they are looking for a new licencee.
A spokesperson from Admiral Taverns said: “Whilst the Cross Guns in Pant remains open and trading as usual, we are currently recruiting for a new passionate and community-focused licensee to take over the pub to ensure it can remain at the heart of the community for years to come.
“We’re seeking someone with experience in running a food-led pub and who can work closely with locals to make the Cross Guns a true focal point. There is also an excellent opportunity to maximise revenue streams through running a regular schedule of events including weekly quiz nights and live music evenings. For anyone interested please get in touch on 01244 321 171.”
Admiral Taverns also say that the current licensee will be running the pub until a new person is found.
In related news, Shropshire Council announced this month that the nomination of The Cross Guns, Pant as an Asset of Community Value is approved and the facility will be listed accordingly.
The pub has been listed for the past 10 years and a group of locals nominate the pub to be listed. Listings only last for five years, so a new application was made last month – before news of the current issues at the pub was published.
