As well as hosting a number of regular events, Pant Memorial Hall is available for private hire. The hall run by a charity – Pant Memorial Institute registered number 240435 – is a great facility for the village and has hosted birthday celebrations and anniversary parties, as well as a wide range of other events.
The history of the Hall
Following the great war of 1914-18 there were moves throughout the country to create War Memorials. Monies were raised for this in Pant. It is said that a principal beneficiary, Col. Henry Leslie M.C., actively campaigned for a Memorial that would benefit local residents.
In 1920 the idea evolved for a small leisure building and a nucleus of people came together making plans. On 9th February 1922, a document records the purchase of land with conditions that required a building to be erected as a Reading Room Club and Village Institute for general purpose use of all residents in Pant. That document also established the name “Pant War Memorial Institute” with management and control of the premises vested in The Management Committee. This Committee was to consist of the Trustees plus other members to be elected annually by residents of Pant. In 1980 – 81 the building was extended and improved with the aid of a substantial grant. Maintenance and improvements have continued to be made to the Hall to benefit the people of Pant and beyond.
Today, the hall is managed by a committee of local people with the aim of providing a first class venue that the whole village can use and be proud of.
