Those of us who live in Pant whose surface water does not drain into the public sewers may be entitled to a reduction in our sewerage charges.
For many people, surface water – that is the rain that falls on roofs, yards and other parts of a property – drains away into the public sewers and water suppliers such as Severn Trent Water include the cost of removing this surface water in the sewerage charges on their customers’ bills.
For some of us though, surface water or groundwater does not drain into the public sewers, but into a soakaway for example. If you happen to be in this category, then you may be able to claim for a reduction in your sewerage charges of around 36%.
To claim for a reduction, you need to show that no surface water or groundwater from your property drains into a public sewer. To find out more click here and download a surface water drainage leaflet, or call Severn Trent Water on 03457 500 500 (local rate) and ask for a printed copy of the leaflet.
