Thanks to a collaboration with a local Pant resident, our website is now available on Alexa.
If you are one of the many people who will have received an Amazon smart speaker this Christmas, you can use it to keep up to date with news from Pant.
Working with local IT specialist Nigel Creaser, we have developed a Pant Today briefing on Alexa, which allows you to ask Alexa for the latest news from Pant. If you have an Alexa device, a voice enabled Amazon Fire Stick or TV or even the Alexa music app on your phone, you can enable our new skill and then use it to find out the latest information from Pant Today.
It’s as simple as putting a new app on your phone. Just pop over to Amazon via this link, log in with your amazon credentials and click the enable button.
Pant Today aims to provide a regular news update service to both villagers and visitors, as well as providing a current source of information about the village and local area. Currently, the website contains information of interest to residents and visitors to Pant, including news, information about local clubs and events, local tourist information as well as a local advert section.
Speaking about the new Alexa project, Nigel said: “More and more people are using smart speakers to interact with the internet and they provide a great way to keep up to date with news stories. It’s great to be working to provide local news and if local people send their stories to Pant Today, they can be added to the website and Alexa too.”
Charities and community events can be uploaded to Pant Today using the ‘Adverts’ button on the website menu here, while other information can be sent via the contact form.
Pant Today is already on Facebook and Twitter, so Alexa is just another way for people to engage with the website and, more importantly, other people in and around the village.
