‘The rain did not deter us’

Alice Bond, co-ordinator for the Llanymynech and Pant P3 group has said that their first Spring Walk was a great success.

The group were pleased to be joined by Peter Carr from Oswestry P3 group and Ramblers’ group for the introduction meeting and he gave helpful tips and information to the group.

The group then walked several of the local footpaths starting at the Cross Guns and identified tasks that need doing.

Task identified included fixing or correcting way markers and posts installed to make it clear where the footpath is. Cutting back hedges and replacing old damaged stiles with kissing gates.

Alice said: “The rain did not deter us. And we now have a Work day planned on the Sunday 14th May starting at 0900hrs in Llanymynech. We plan on removing two stiles that are obsolete due to new kissing gates being installed.

“These relate to the footpath marked 0304/7/2 that crossed the Llanymynech playing field, to the East of Barley meadows estate onto the canal towpath. One stile is located at the junction of the towpath and the field and the other is just below by the playing field. If you can make it we would appreciate the help.”
