Following the resignation of Owen Paterson as MP for North Shropshire, the date for the local by-election has been set for Thursday, 16 December 2021.
The full list of candidates has now been published and to be eligible to vote, local residents need to be on the Register of Electors. The deadline for registering to vote is midnight on Tuesday 30 November.

For those who want to vote in person, polling stations will be safe places to vote on 16 December, with social distancing measures in place, and people are being asked to bring their own pen or pencil. Pant Memorial Hall and Llanymynech Village Hall will be local polling stations.
The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Wednesday 1 December, and for a proxy vote the deadline to apply is 5pm on Wednesday 8 December. People wishing to apply are encouraged to do so as soon as possible.
Of the 14 candidates standing in the by-election in North Shropshire only five have provided addresses within the constinuency.
