Montgomery Canal consultation events

The restoration of the Montgomery Canal has been ongoing for many years.

And has been achieved through strong partnership working and the dedication of hundreds of volunteers. It is a canal that holds high-quality natural and built heritage, a gem of our waterway network.

The Levelling Up Funded (LUF) Montgomery Canal Restoration project involves the creation of two new bridges at Carreghofa Lane (near to the existing pedestrianised Walls Bridge) and Williams Bridge on the B4398; removing blockages to the waterway alongside dredging; and, the creation of an open-water nature reserve at Wern.

The LUF works will not deliver a fully navigable canal and boating is not anticipated in the
immediate future.

The Canal & River Trust has been working on delivering these plans, and we welcome you to come and meet the team behind the proposal and ask any questions you may have.

Two consultation events have been organised by the Trust and all are welcome.

Thursday 13 June at Four Crosses Village Hall from 4.30–7.30pm.
Friday 14 June at Llanymynech Village Hall from 12.30–4pm.
