Pant Autumn Bazaar success

The first Pant Autumn Bazaar held on Saturday 3 October has been hailed a success by the Memorial Hall committee and those that attended.

Pant Autumn BazaarThe Bazaar, which took place in Pant Memorial Hall, raised over £440 towards the upkeep of the Hall and saw more than 200 visitors coming along to visit stalls including Oswestry Country Markets, Maesbury Metal, Rowanthorne Sweeney Hall Hotel, Lion Quays Spa, local Pant beekeepers Chris and Jayne, as well as enjoying a number of activities put on by the Memorial Hall committee members themselves.

Pant Memorial Hall was founded as a resource for all the people of Pant and the Autumn Bazaar was an ideal opportunity to showcase its facilities as a community hall in North Shropshire and a focal point for the village.

Thanks to the generosity of individuals and local businesses, the Memorial Hall was able to raise over £440, which will go towards the maintenance of the hall.

Speaking about the event, Beryl Phillips, Secretary of the committee said: “We are very grateful for all the hard work put in by the committee and local businesses. The staff at our Co-operative store were present throughout and the Cross Guns Inn donated a meal. We’d like to thank all the stallholders for putting on such a good show and the businesses and organisations which made donations.

“Thanks must also go to the many visitors that came along. It was very satisfying to see so many people turning up and we will certainly be having a discussion about holding another event like this next year.”

As well as raising money for the Memorial Hall, the Autumn Bazaar was a marketplace for local businesses to sell their wares and so benefitted (in a small way) the local economy.

According to Beryl, the committee at Pant Memorial Hall will be looking at the possibility of putting on more events in future and local people are more than welcome to make suggestions about the sort of event that they would like to see.
